Know Your Breeder!

My story starts with Elliot. A sassy, opinionated, rough blue merle who came into my life in 2015. A Collie who, unbeknownst to me at the time, would change my life in the most wonderful way possible. Elliot became my right hand man, if he wasn’t invited then I wasn’t going. He is everything a Collie should be. Loyal, loving, gentle, sensitive, and bursting with personality. As a professional groomer I was surrounded by peers who were breeding, showing, or participating in dog sports and it didn’t take long for me to start chasing that goal as well. I fell down the rabbit hole head first and at 100 MPH.

I bought my second Collie, first smooth, Cha Cha, in 2018 from SugarNSpice Collies. In the months after Cha Cha came home I began going on the road with Mara of SNS and I was officially hooked. She taught me a wealth of knowledge about not only showing and traveling with multiple dogs, but proper structure, a correct Collie head, how to feel, find, and breed for both. My first three litters, co-bred with Mara and Rebecca, produced who is now the foundation of my kennel. Turner, Stevie, and Janis born in 2021 as well as Roseann born in 2022.

Here at Adamo Collies my goal is to produce Collies who not only have the beautiful wedge shaped head they are know for; but a healthy, sound, balanced, and effortlessly moving dog. One with herding drive and the structural longevity to be successful as a working farm dog. I hold myself and my dogs to a high standard in effort to breed only when I feel it will be beneficial to both the breed and my line. Pairings are made with specific goals in mind for each litter.

All dogs here at Adamo sleep on the couch, on the bed and are dearly loved pets above ALL else. I do not believe in a kennel setting and everyone lives and is raised in my home. I can’t imagine not tripping on the bones scattered across the floor, regularly collecting all the toys sprung about, and a pack of Collies following me from room to room. They are my best friends, the keepers of my secrets, and what brings me the most joy in life.
